Summer is one of the best times of the year—and here at Baby & Rojas Orthodontics, we love seeing our patients enjoy vacations, sunshine, and time with family and friends. But whether you’re heading to the beach, going to camp, or just relaxing at home, don’t forget to take care of your smile along the way!
Here are our top orthodontist-approved tips to help you keep your braces or aligners in great shape all summer long:
☀️ 1. Pack a Travel-Ready Ortho Kit
If you’re heading out of town, toss together a quick orthodontic kit so you’re always prepared. Include:
- A toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste
- Floss or floss threaders
- Orthodontic wax for poking wires
- A small mirror
- Hand sanitizer
- A case for aligners or retainers
Whether you’re at camp or on the road, you’ll be ready for any ortho situation!
🍓 2. Choose Smile-Friendly Summer Snacks
Summer treats are fun—but some can be tough on braces. Watch out for hard, sticky, or crunchy foods like popcorn, corn on the cob, or caramel.
Instead, enjoy:
- Watermelon and berries
- Smoothies and yogurt
- Soft cheeses or pasta salads
- Ice cream (just avoid sticky toppings!)
Tip: If you’re wearing Invisalign®, be sure to remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water.
🪥 3. Don’t Skip Your Routine
Summer days can be busy (and lazy), but don’t let that derail your oral care. Keep brushing at least twice a day for 2 minutes, floss daily, and wear your rubber bands or aligners exactly as directed.
If you’re heading to bed late, brush before you get too tired—you’ll thank yourself in the morning.
📞 4. When in Doubt, Call Us
If you lose a retainer, break a bracket, or experience discomfort while traveling, don’t hesitate to call our office. We’re here to guide you on what to do next—and get you back to enjoying your summer.
☀️ Keep Smiling, All Summer Long! ☀️
