If you haven’t heard we are collecting pennies for “The Waterschool Project” Check out the full details below!
Dr. Baby, Dr. Rojas and team would like to bring awareness to a cause that the office has supported for many years, “The Waterschool”.
When we run our tap to brush our teeth, for a glass of water, or to a fill up a pot to boil your pasta, we don’t always think about the people of developing countries who do not have that luxury. Many people in rural areas and in developing countries draw their drinking water mainly from surface sources such as ponds, rivers and lakes. These same sources are used by cattle and other livestock and for bathing, washing clothes and other domestic uses. Even when improved sources are provided (bore holes, rain water harvesting, etc.), the water is usually contaminated during collection, transportation and storage. The Waterschool educates the people of this by using a three step process which ensures clean water through existing agencies in the beneficiary area. The Waterschool is currently working in Uganda and Kenya and has worked in Haiti in the past.
Over the summer months our office will be collecting pennies in support of this cause. All penny donations will be matched by the doctors and donated to The Waterschool and its initiatives. It is amazing; a $10 donation can help provide clean water to one child for a LIFETIME!
All three of our office locations are happy to take pennies that you may have laying around off your hands. Water jugs will be set up at each office location for this purpose. Please remember every penny helps! Our office is open to the public to bring in their pennies, not just our patients and families so please spread the word! You can also help by donating any current Smiles Miles to this cause. If you would like to donate your Smile Miles please email Tricia email@example.com for further information.
